He is luckily rescued and taken under the wing of a passing pedestrian lady who happens to be a secretary to Frida Kahlo who is injured, crippled in bed and fears that she is close to death.

Frida relates the story and deep cause of her guilt. Discovering that while she was on an artistic mission to Paris, meeting Picasso among others, her husband Diego had started an adulterous relationship with her sister.

A year before this Leon Trotsky, fleeing Russia from his rival Stalin’s terror, had been invited by Diego, who had himself been expelled by Siqueros from the Stalinist Mexican Communist Party aHer he accepted a very lucrative commission from the Rockefeller family, to live in Mexico. Trotsky had taken up residence in the Casa Azul, owned by Frida and Diego.

Discovering Diego and her sister’s liaison, Frida sought her revenge and succumbed to the overtures of Trotsky and made sure that Diego knew that she had been unfaithful with their honoured guest. Diego, hypocritically incensed expelled Trotsky and his wife from the Casa Azul and withdrew his protection. Trotsky moved his residence and, living under decreased and hired security, was tricked into admitting Spanish Stalinist agents who murdered him in the new residence, notoriously sing an ice-pick in the back of his neck.

Of course Frida blamed herself for his death and was now told by Satish that her redemption had to rely on repentance and reconciliatory acts. She commissions Satish to help her in this and he sets out to reconcile Diego and restore him to his friendship with Diego and so to the Communist Party. Through painting, connivance and convincing, Satish manages to strategically reconcile Diego and Siqueros who hold each other as they Each support Frida’s coffin at her massed funeral.

Logline:

London couple EMILY GREEN and JAMES PIERCE relocate to Hong Kong. His career and bed notches increase; in contrast, her corporate career tanks, and she undertakes dodgy modelling jobs while trying to make their relationship work. Will they survive the extreme culture shock and stay together?

Synopsis:

25-year-old Londoner EMILY GREEN has a pear-shaped ¬figure and a pear-shaped life. Loved up couple EMILY GREEN and JAMES PIERCE say goodbye to friends and family in search of adventure and fortune in exotic Hong Kong. In the fast-paced vibe of Hong Kong, Emily is overwhelmed, fi-nding her new office job difficult to adjust to, while James thrives in his new role and revels in all the attention he gets from the local and expat ladies. Emily and James explore Hong Kong together and take fun-fi¬lled (and rather crazy!)  holidays further afi¬eld to Bali, Thailand (Full Moon Party) and the Philippines. She loves the Hong Kong designer knock off shops hidden in the back alleys, while James goes off the rails with the hedonistic party lifestyle while managing to excel at every sport known to mankind. James starts drinking heavily every day with his best friend PETER VICTOR CROFT, an eternal playboy. Peter encourages James to have fun ‘playing the fi¬eld’ and savouring Hong Kong’s local delights. He’s getting home late at night, and Emily worries after seeing how the women flirt outrageously with him everywhere they go.

Emily is let go from her office job and left unemployed and depressed. She can’t speak Cantonese so has a tough time finding another job. James is no longer talking to her about getting married and having babies. A twist of fate brings Emily a job as a model for local low budget fashion campaigns and shopping mall assignments. It’s a mad new world for Emily, mostly embarrassing and highly comical. She has a pretty face but is short and doesn’t have a model’s body. Her Agency boss, Astrid Fong, is a nightmare to work for. Astrid finds ways not to pay her models their commissions. For example, one day, Emily goes to mainland China to a huge factory where the staff stare at her as if she’s an alien from outer space. The clothes she’s modelling that day are truly hideous – cheap t-shirt and track pants with bizarre craft dolls sewn onto them – it’s not a good look! Astrid informs her the next day that the factory won’t pay her because she stole the clothes. Emily replies, “Are you freaking kidding me – a homeless person wouldn’t steal those clothes – they’re revolting!” Several similar experiences follow this one. A German lingerie brand assignment requires Emily to wear kinky bras and panties due to needing a Western (chubby) body for the fit. She meets a new friend, an American model, who tells Emily what to do to get paid – to threaten to trash Astrid’s office and smash her computers – it works a treat!

James and Emily eventually split up after a horrendous argument. Emily temporarily lives in a colonial building which is an expat refuge for recently single and divorced women, sharing their stories, pain and plans for revenge on their exes. She does not hate James; in fact, she still loves him. Emily picks herself up and starts dating again, although it’s a catalogue of disasters. One day Emily decides it’s time to go and make herself a new life somewhere new – she chooses Singapore. Emily is sitting on the plane, sipping on a Singapore Sling cocktail, watching ‘GONE WITH THE WIND.’ She looks at the elderly man sitting next to her and mimics Scarlett O’Hara, “After all, tomorrow is another day.” He thinks she’s flirting with him and grins at her, pointing to his handphone, indicating she should put her mobile number into it. Emily rolls her eyes.

Logline:
Two Japanese indigo dyers embark on a transformative journey: One uncovers the profound meaning within the hues of blue, while the other gains a new way to see through his colorblindness. Together, they fight to save a century-old tradition on the brink of disappearing.

Synopsis:
On the lush island of Shikoku’s Tokushima prefecture, lies the heart of Japan’s traditional indigo blue culture. Amidst this serene setting, two artisans, Kenta Watanabe and Shinya Kato, embark on a journey of not just indigo dyeing (Aizome) but one of inner discovery. Together they fight to re-invent this century-old craft teetering on the brink of disappearing.

Captivated by a deep shade of blue he cannot forget, Watanabe quits his job and moves South to Tokushima to become an indigo master. Each season he experiments and gets one step closer to understanding the unique alchemy of factors that make up his perfect shade of blue. Every action has a ripple effect that can be felt in the final product; from the way he treats the local environment, to his ability to bring together his group of artisans as a team, and to how well he understands and is willing to break with tradition. But Ai (indigo) is on the verge of disappearing, so Watanabe must first fight for the survival of this art form, by convincing the traditional community to embrace new ways of farming and creating the dye itself, which are considered unacceptable.

Alongside Watanabe is his colleague Shinya Kato who is partially colorblind but did not know about his condition until he was an adult. But this doesn’t discourage him; in fact, it has led him to do extensive research into how humans see color. Kato asks himself whether his condition actually allows him to see color in a more profound way; as certain hues turn to gray, others appear that perhaps only he can see. Over the years he has developed an exceptional sensitivity to the idea that color is not just a physical perception, but more importantly — an emotional one.

The time-consuming and laborious process of creating Ai takes upwards of 12 months of manual labor, in which the artisans carefully grow, harvest, dry and ferment their own indigo leaves, before then turning them into a deep blue liquid which becomes the heart of their work. As Watanabe and Kato embark on their individual journeys — one discovering the true meaning of his color blue, the other finding new perspectives through his color blindness — we follow the deeply personal story of these artisans, as fight for the survival of Japan’s indigo and uncover the emotional and physical transformations that create the shape of blue.
