Barbara Lee has spent over 25 years championing Canadian Asian voices in music, film, television, and media. She founded the Vancouver Asian Film Festival (VAFF), Canada’s oldest Asian film festival as well as the Racial Equity Screen Office (RESO) and Elimin8Hate.org. Through RESO, she advances the mission of bringing Canada’s racialized diaspora stories to global audiences.

An award-winning writer and independent filmmaker, Barbara began her career in broadcast journalism, earning the RTNDA Award for Best Editorial in 1998. Her film In Between the Laughter was selected for the National Film Board’s REELDIVERSITY program in 2004 and aired on CBC and PBS Northwest. She recently debuted her personal music documentary SING MY SONG and is currently completing a horror script.
