ATF Buyers: Top Regions, Top Genres, and the Unscripted

Off the bat, the number of ATF registered buyers looking for feature film has jumped to over 62% since the first look at buyers coming to ATF 2025 was published. Within the category, sub-genres of significance include the demand for Action/Adventure (>33%), Thriller and Family (>11% each).

Zooming out, the top 3 broad genres remain Feature Film, Series, and Docs & Factuals.

Under the Series genre, the top sub-genres (by ranking) include Romance, Action/Adventure, Family, Historical period drama, and Crime investigation.

Buyers keen on micro-dramas have also increased significantly, creating sub-genres that are already ranking in demand.

Finally, the top buyers to date that have noted their intentions to acquire the Unscripted hail from Indonesia, Korea, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Singapore. A peek into companies buying unscripted includes FPT Play, Media Prima Berhad, PCCW OTT (Viu), PT Digdaya Duta Digital, PT. Duta Visual Nusantara Tivi Tujuh (TRANS7), PT. Indosiar Visual Mandiri, SBS, StarHub, and Television Broadcasts Limited.

The countries/regions with the greatest number of buying delegates to date are Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Indian, and Hong Kong.
