Marking three years at PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc. in the Philippines as Group Head for Corporate Communications, Cathy has led her team to mount a compelling change story for her team. Spearheading the pivot, Cathy combined two teams into one, leveraging on their capabilities and expertise, propagating a unified narrative for the country’s largest integrated telco service PLDT and its wireless unit Smart.  Demonstrating leadership, Cathy inspired her team to try new ways of working, positioning them to excel.  Data-driven metrics reveals PLDT Group dominating Share of Voice across media platforms for more than three years.

In December 2022, Yang led her team at PLDT Group to be recognized by the Stockholm-based Global Child Forum for developing and implementing policies and practices that address the Group’s impact on children’s rights, integrating child rights into the business.  

Beyond the corporate world, Cathy is a multi-awarded, international broadcast journalist specializing in global financial markets and economies.  Her 15 year-stint overseas include postings in Tokyo and Hong Kong, serving the roles of anchor and reporter at Bloomberg TV Asia-Pacific, Reuters TV Asia Pacific and CCTV English (now CGTN).  She is a four-time winner of the Asian TV Awards and the first Filipino journalist to win Best News or Current Affairs Presenter/Anchor at the 2019 Asian Academy Creative Awards (AACA).   She has since served as AACA Member of Jury over the past three years. She is Immediate Past Chairperson of the 2022 National Public Relations Congress, Vice-President-External and Board of Trustees of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (2022-23).
