With a life-long mission to always produce something new and exciting, Ahmad Izham Omar has ignited several different creative fields.

Izham is currently Founder and Chief Explorer of Komet Productions, focusing on investment, production, marketing and distribution of new and progressive film, TV, and music content in Southeast Asia. A well-experienced media and content executive, Izham was previously the Executive Director, Content & Creative, Disney+, The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia from 2020 to 2023.

In this role, Izham oversaw the production of original content for Disney+ and Disney+ Hotstar in Southeast Asia, spearheading Disney+’s exciting foray into original production in this region. Izham worked extensively with some of the region’s top creative talent and studios to produce these Disney+ Originals, which included titles such as Teluh Darah, Mendua, Wedding Agreement The Series, Virgin The Series, Special Force: Anarchy and Ejen Ali Season 3, a landmark co-production between Disney Southeast Asia, Wau Animation and Primeworks Studios. 2023 will see the release of the much-anticipated Tira, the first series from the Indonesian Bumilangit universe, with showrunner Joko Anwar, Indonesia’s top filmmaker.

Izham is no stranger to the content industry. Before his current role, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Primeworks Studios (PWS), Malaysia’s largest production company and a subsidiary of Malaysian media giant Media Prima Berhad, specializing in producing feature films, television content, animation, and music for international consumption. With an output of more than 3000 hours of content annually in the Malay, English and Mandarin languages, Izham was involved in every aspect of the process, from ideation, development and production to distribution and aggregation of content to multiple platforms and clients. He also worked on international co-productions, including TV projects with Japanese, Singaporean and Indonesian broadcasters, and movie projects with Indonesian, Thai and Singaporean filmmakers.

PWS’ productions were not only regularly amongst the highest-rated TV programs in Malaysia but have also broke Malaysian box-office records. In 2019, Ejen Ali The Movie became the no. 1 animated movie of all time, the no. 1 movie of 2019 and the no. 3 movie of all time in Malaysia. The Ejen Ali TV series is also available in more than 50 territories worldwide. Another achievement during his time at Primeworks Studios was the epic drama Pulang, a multiple award-winning film that Izham was credited as Executive Producer and Screenplay writer, now a global Netflix original. Pulang was Malaysia’s first Netflix Original film.

From 2011 to 2015 Izham was Chief Executive Officer, Television Networks, Media Prima overseeing Malaysia’s no. 1 TV station TV3, the leading urban station 8TV, as well as ntv7 and TV9, dominating the industry with a combined 45% market share with just 4 stations. He started his media career in 2003 by launching the iconic 8TV. Breaking-even in a record 18 months, 8TV received numerous global awards for creative excellence. Some of the iconic programmes from 8TV include The Shout! Awards, Malaysian Idol, The 8TV Quickie, Latte@8 and many more.

From 2005 to 2010 Izham was also Media Prima’s Head of Radio, where he launched Malaysia’s top radio stations Hot FM, Fly FM and One FM. Izham was also the CEO of Alt Media, Media Prima’s digital arm, where he launched a top-class video streaming service called tonton in 2010, heralded as a breakthrough in the region then, now with more than 8 million registered users.

A multi award-winning music producer, arranger, songwriter and musician, Izham has worked on albums for numerous artists from around the world including Faizal Tahir, Jaclyn Victor, Innuendo, Siti Nurhaliza, Ferhad, Too Phat, Malique, Relish and K-pop group Billlie.
