Netflix’s plan to gain 100 million customers in India – almost 25 times Netflix’s estimated subscriber base – this year may fall through. The streaming service is also effectively blocked in China. Beyond its Q2 loss of 130,000 users in the U.S., local OTT players are not backing down, many successfully holding ground with impressive local subscriber numbers. This has put in motion the coming of a new age of OTT, where local OTTs step up their game. Looking at real digital monetization, will they change the Netflix game forever?
