Dr Sudarat Disayawattana Chantrawatanakul was appointed as Director of Academic Institute of Public Media since January 2017 and later as Deputy Director General of Thai PBS in August 2017. 

With 36 years of experience in Communication & Journalism Education, she was one of the pioneers in this field of Education in Thailand. She served as Dean of the Bangkok University Communication Arts School in 1994-2004. Prior to that, she worked there as chairperson of Journalism Department; overseeing the curriculum administration and continuously lectured Communication Arts courses. She set up a School of Communication Arts and became Faculty Dean at Panyapiwat Institute of Management; Thailand’s first Communication Arts work-based learning educational program.

She became an advisor to Thai Journalism Association’s Academic Affairs and initiated Strategic Seminar on Future Journalism facilitating change management for media professionals and supervises various media training programs. She often represents Thai Journalism Association internationally.

She joined Press Council of Thailand since 2015 and is still a member of Ethics Committee and Academic Committee in the Press Council. She also became the Editor in Chief of Isra Media Review, a Journal of Isra News Agency. 

Before coming to Thai PBS, Dr Sudarat was a Board of Director member at MCOT; acted as an Audit Committee member and Corporate Governance Committee member, she also supervises the revitalizing process of Thai News Agency.
