Kazufumi Nagasawa
Kazufumi Nagasawa is Chief Content Officer and Board member of HJ Holdings LLC, which owns and operates Hulu in Japan. Kaz oversees all content related activities for the service including content acquisition, production of original series, programing, and operations. Besides his responsibility as CCO, he also plays instrumental roles in strategic planning and in overall business activities for the company.
Kaz joined Hulu Japan as the Head of Content and Distribution in May 2011 before the service launched as the first pure SVOD platform in Japan and has been the driving force for the company to establish key partnerships with both content and device partners. He also played a material role in the transition of the ownership of the company from Hulu LLC (joint venture of Fox, Disney, and Comcast) to Nippon TV (the No.1 terrestrial network in Japan) in 2014.
Constantly breaking standard practice and precedent, Kaz and his team were able to territorially premiere various major US TV series including Breaking Bad, Under the Dome, Outlander, 12 Monkeys, Heroes Reborn and Black Sails on the Hulu SVOD platform since 2014
Beginning his entertainment career at Disney’s Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Kaz joined as the director of sales and marketing of live action films, and he expanded his responsibility to cover content acquisition and local production for the studio.
