Asia Market Manager
Tape Consultancy / Glance Médiamétrie
Ella joined TAPE in 2012, providing professional content consultancy for clients around the world. In her time with TAPE, she has worked across both scripted and unscripted content, combining qualitative and quantitative research to develop extensive business opportunities between the UK and Asian media industries, with a focus on China.
Having experienced the very different media cultures of the UK and China, she has been instrumental in enabling TAPE to bridge the East-West gap and turn such understanding into a unique business opportunity – forming international development and production teams, creating content for the Chinese market, but with global potential.
Before TAPE, Ella worked as UK correspondent for Dragon TV, Shanghai Media Group, covering the 2012 Olympic Games, major European fashion and film events/festivals. She also reported on a variety of current affairs stories such ‘Occupy London’, the Norway island camp massacre, and regular updates on the London stock market, etc.
Before moving to the UK in 2009, Ella worked for Phoenix TV in China first as a researcher and then an episode director. She worked for Phoenix TV’s signature documentary series – C'est La Vie and Phoenix Panorama – which focused on current affairs and modern history subjects, such as SANLU POISON BABY MILK SCANDAL, MEMORIES OF TAIWAN VETERAN IN WWII and the SICHUAN 12/5 EARTHQUAKE series. LAST 79 HOURS OF CHEN JIAN, a special documentary feature about the Sichuan earthquake garnered the 45th Chicago International Film Festival in 2009, Silver plaque for Documentary: Arts & Humanities.
