Choon Meng is co-founder and CEO of Scrawl Studios Pte Ltd, Singapore's award-winning media content production company, and director of Scrawl Animation Pte Ltd, a strategic partnership with Cyber Group Studios to develop a real-time animation pipeline in Asia.
He launched the first original animated television property from Singapore in the North American market, heading the product development team that produced the series. Choon Meng Raised S$11mil project financing for 7 international productions that are sold to more than 30 countries worldwide, including to global networks like Disney, Turner and Sony Viacom.
He has won numerous awards globally: Gold Medal award winner at the Oshima Picture Book Content 2004 (Illustrator and co- writer of the winning children's book, Slip) - Finalist at the prestigious SICAF competition in Korea in 2008; 2009 - Milly Molly nominated Best Animation at Asia Television (ATV) Awards 2010 - Original short animation Flats Runner-up of Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) Digicon 2011 held in Singapore and top winner of the VSIFF 2011 - Guess How Much I Love You won Best 2D Animated Programme ATV Awards 2012 and nominated for Best Children's TV Series at ACCTA 2012 - Zou won 1st in Children's Jury Prize at 29th Chicago International Children's Film Festival in 2012 - Nominated for International Emmy Kids Awards 2013 for Zou .
His executive producing and producing credits on include X-Hunters (commissioned by MediaCorp and iMDA); Best Furry Friends Season 1 and Season 2 (airing on Cartoon Network) as well as Lil Wild Season 1 (airing on MediaCorp Ch5 and MeWatch)
As an experienced practitioner in the local animation industry, Choon Meng has been contributing to the educational sector by serving on Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Interactive and Digital Media Industry Advisory Panel since 2011. In his capacity as a member of the panel, Choon Meng provides industry feedback on course curriculum and advises the school on its animation programmes.
