Various mediums have gone through a fair bit of meshing, merging, and blurring, and we’ve seen peeks of what business models look like for multi-channel networks, online video companies, and traditional television networks. We know that, for now, traditional TV will benefit from digital, and digital from traditional; a symbiosis that’s giving a few some room to breathe.
In the end though, it’s all about monetizing what has been invested in, be it content, exclusivity and distribution channels. Where content go, so too will advertising follow. Herein lies the scenario where commercials also become more targeted.
While the above is becoming staple feed, a parallel landscape change, where your evolutionary content and breath-taking advertising offers are only as good as the technology that supports them, is provoking a little more head-scratching today.
Can VR really succeed without 4K? Can OTTs really flourish without a fast and furious superhighway? Now that 4G has become synonymous with LTE, do we need to worry about 5G?
This daunting new world has seen Hooq, Asia's first premium video-on-demand service to launch across the region, arming itself with the best safeguard manoeuvre called, Michael Fleshman.
“I am excited to be part of such a dynamic start-up and I look forward to driving the company into its new phase of innovation and technology.”
– Michael Fleshman, CTO, Hooq
Fresh off the BBC Worldwide boat, and fortified with perspective, having also led the Financial Times and AOL alum, Michael is a proper tech man, cutting his C-level teeth as Chief Technology Officer of Merideo, a company he co-founded, looking at the design and development of online portals and ecommerce systems for what used to be tech giants, including Sun, 3Com and Netscape.
Two decades later, Michael will now further build on Hooq’s global video expertise, leading the charge of strategic planning and development of Hooq’s product and platform with the view of ensuring that Hooq stays ahead of the curve in the OTT space. Michael will also spearhead innovation and most of all, deliver a flawless customer experience.
A graduate from MIT, it is no surprise Fleshman spends his time geeking out on the latest tech and gadgets. His only saving grace? Michael loves a good binge on anything by Luc Besson, particularly The Fifth Element and Lucy. (Phew!)
