In view of the current economic climate, what opportunities / challenges do you foresee for your business?
China’s demand content remains strong and sees little effect from the current economic climate. We have stepped up our efforts in penetrating this market and aim to gain market share through not only direct content licensing, but also production collaboration with local partners.
Which Asian market do you expect to see growth? Why?
The markets to watch out for presently are China and Vietnam. With an advantage of a large population, their demand for content is ever increasing as the market slowly opens up.
What are your priorities in the next 12-18 months?
Our priorities right now is to work closely with our production team to produce content that can
travel. Our recent success story includes “The Little Nyonya”, a drama that revolves around a
Perenakan family (Peranakan being a culture that is unique to South East Asia). With its gripping
storyline, coupled with elaborate costume and setting, it has an international appeal and aroused a
lot of interest in the markets.
What is your biggest company achievement in year 2008/ 2009?
In the year of 2008/2009, the company produced two blockbusters, “The Little Nyonya” and “The
Ultimatum”, which were very well-received by the markets and were successfully distributed to
China, Hong Kong as well as South East Asia.
